After three years of research and development, the world's first CNC milling machine was developed in 1952, when the electronic components were electronic tubes. 

Since 1952, CNC machine tools have experienced five generations according to the development of CNC system. 

The first generation: in 1955, the numerical control system was made of electronic tubes, with large volume and large power consumption. 

The second generation: in 1959, the CNC system was composed of transistors, and printed circuit boards were widely used. One 

Third Generation: In 1965, the CNC system used small-scale integrated circuits as hardware, characterized by small size, low power consumption, and further improved reliability. 

The above three generation numerical control system is implemented by hardware, which is called "hardware numerical control" in history. The fourth generation: in 1970, the CNC system uses a small computer to replace the special computer, and its part of its function is realized by software. It has the characteristics of low price, high reliability and many functions. 

The fifth generation: in 1974, the CNC system is based on the microprocessor, which not only reduces the price further, but also reduces the volume further, making it possible to realize the real sense of mechatronics. This generation can be divided into six stages of development.
