Cold forging, according to the habit of engineering, refers to cold volume forming, forging in cold condition, or at room temperature, using the mold installed on the equipment to compress metal material (material) into a forming part for two processing in plastic processing under room temperature conditions. This definition needs to be explained as follows. 

First of all, "room temperature" or "cold state" is just a convention that hot forging must be heated before forging. The "cold state" here refers to the fact that the recrystallization temperature of metals is below T. Therefore, strictly speaking, cold forging refers to various bulk forming processes under the recrystallization temperature of metals. It is known from metallographic theory that the recrystallization temperature (T-re) of metals is related to the melting point temperature (T-melting), which is generally defined as T-re= (O.3-0.5) T-melting. Table 0-1 is the minimum recrystallization temperature of some ferrous and non-ferrous metals. From this, it can be clearly seen that even at room temperature, the forming of lead and tin can not be called cold forging, but hot forging. 

Secondly, cold forging should be a general name. According to the hierarchical relationship among taxonomy theory, it should be the upper class. The lower class includes the process of piers forging, extrusion, die forging, embossing and so on. Although the most active part of this stage is cold extrusion, it is still part of the cold forging process, not all. Therefore, on some occasions, cold forging and cold extrusion are regarded as the same name or parallel word, or cold forging is not as reasonable as cold and cold forging, and it is contrary to the basic principle of the taxonomy. 

In addition, cold rolling, cold drawing and cold drawing are also the category of cold deformation (processing), but in general, these processes are divided into one processing in plastic processing, not two processing.
