Forming limit

Forming limit is the maximum degree of deformation that can be achieved in stamping process. For different stamping processes, the forming limit is represented by the different ultimate deformation coefficients, such as the minimum bending radius when bending, the ultimate drawing coefficient and the limit turning coefficient when the drawing is drawn. Because the stamping material is mainly sheet material, the stamping forming is mostly in the plane stress state that the stress value of the plate is approximately zero in the thickness direction, so it is not difficult to analyze: in the interior of the deformation return material, any area which has been subjected to the large tensile stress will make the return part serious and even split; all of them have been subjected to the stress. If the compressive stress exceeds the critical stress, the material will lose stability and wrinkle if the compressive stress exceeds the critical stress. Therefore, in order to improve the forming limit, it is necessary to improve the tensile and compressive ability of the material from the material aspect. From the point of view of the stamping process parameters, the ultimate deformation coefficient of the material must be strictly limited. 

The deformation in this direction must be extensional deformation in this direction, so it is called extensional deformation, such as expansion, expansion, and round hole turning, as the absolute value of the pressure stress in the deformation zone is maximum, the deformation in this direction. It must be compression deformation, so it is called compression deformation, such as drawing and shrinkage. In the elongation deformation, the tensile stress in the deformation zone is dominant, the thickness of the material is thinner, the surface area increases, the possibility of cracking is produced. In the compression deformation, the pressure stress in the deformation zone is dominant, the thickness of the material is thickened, the surface area is reduced, and the possibility of instability wrinkling is produced. Because the deformation properties of the two types of deformation are completely different from those of the existing problems, the factors that affect the forming limit and the methods to improve the ultimate deformation parameters are different. The ultimate deformation parameters of elongated deformation mainly determine the plasticity of the material. The limit deformation parameters of the compression type deformation are generally limited by the bearing capacity of the force zone, and sometimes it is restricted by the instability and wrinkling of the deformation zone or the force transfer zone. Therefore, the methods to improve the ultimate deformation parameters of elongation are as follows: improving the plasticity of the material, reducing the inhomogeneity of the deformation, eliminating the local hardening of the deformation zone, or other factors that may cause the stress concentration, such as deburring or the annealing treatment. The methods of improving the ultimate deformation coefficient of the compression type are as follows: improving the bearing capacity of the force transmission area, reducing the deformation resistance or friction resistance of the deformation zone, and adopting the pressure material to prevent the change of the deformation zone.

Q:can we modify the drawings?

A:It can be thicker, but it still does not work well. This structure needs big changes.
